
Track & Field Earns All-Academic Team Honors by USTFCCCA

Keys, Mirkes and Wallace earn Individual honors
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams have earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors for the 2021-22 academic year. Both the men's and women's teams received the honor with a cumulative GPA over 3.0. The men posted a GPA of 3.3 and the women a GPA of 3.5.
Seniors Joe Keys, Lindsey Mirkes and Megan Wallace received individual honors. This is Keys third time receiving the honor and the second for Mirkes. Wallace becomes a four-time honoree and her first with Marquette.
The criteria for being named an All-Academic Athlete is as follows:
The Downers Grove native concluded his final season with the Golden Eagles by bringing home the BIG EAST title in the heptathlon and broke the school and conference record with a score of 5853.
High jumper Lindsey Mirkes received All-Academic honors for the second time in her career with a cumulative GPA of 3.93 and earned her masters in exercise physiology and rehab science. Mirkes was an All-BIG EAST selection in the high jump for both indoor and outdoor after placing third at the conference championships. She went on to represent MU in the high jump at the NCAA Regional Qualifier in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In her first year with MU, Megan Wallace posted a GPA of 3.86 while working towards her masters degree in speech-language pathology. Wallace left her mark on the program in her lone season with the Golden Eagles by breaking the school heptathlon record at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with 5340 points to take third overall. The Burlington native also set the second-best pentathlon score in school history at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic with a score of 3651.

The criteria for being named an All-Academic Athlete is as follows:
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, certifiable by either NCAA Faculty Rep or NCAA Compliance Coordinator or Registrar's Office. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0].
- Must have completed at least two (2) semesters or three (3) quarters at the nominating institution.
- Athletic criteria for the award:
- For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
- For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.
