Golden Eagles back in action Sunday at Central Michigan
The Marquette University women's soccer team (0-1-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) opened its 2022 campaign with a 3-0 loss at No. 16 Notre Dame (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC) Thursday night in non-conference action at Alumni Field.
Â
The Golden Eagles fell behind early in the first half, allowing a pair of goals on the first two shots of the evening in less than a minute's time. Netminder Mikki Easter finished with six saves on the night, including a pair of acrobatic stops diving to her left. MU's offensive attack struggled the entire night, finishing the match with just one shot.
"It wasn't the result we wanted, but I was very happy with the resilience the team showed tonight against a nationally ranked program," head coach Frank Pelaez said. "We saw a number of positives and can't wait to get back on the field Sunday."
Â
Making their respective Marquette debuts Thursday night were Isabella Cook, Elizabeth Bueckers, Aislinn Boyle, Molly Keiper and Josie Bieda.
Â
The Golden Eagles wrap up their two-game road swing on Sunday, August 21 when the squad takes on Central Michigan at 12 p.m. CT.
