
Kate Jochims Named BIG EAST XC Athlete of the Week

Jochims placed first overall at the Walt Crawford Open
NEW YORK - Marquette junior Kate Jochims has been named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week in cross country based on her performance last weekend at the Walt Crawford Open, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week
Quinn Nicholson, Georgetown, Gr.
Nicholson led the 23rd-ranked Hoyas to a first-place finish in the 12-team Spider Alumni Open. The graduate student took individual honors with a time of 17:31.0 over the 6K distance. Nicholson was one of five Hoyas who finished in the top 20.

Jochims took individual honors at the Walt Crawford Open hosted by Eastern Illinois. The junior ran the 5K race at the Tom Woodall Panther Trail in 18:22.5. The Golden Eagles captured team first-place honors in the six-team field.

BIG EAST Men's Notes
Villanova took first place in the Lehigh Invitational. Senior Charlie O'Donovan finished first individually with a time of 18:03.5 in the 6K race. The Wildcats led a top five sweep at the finish line with all five scoring runners finishing within less than two seconds of each other…Georgetown's winning effort in the Spider Alumni Open was supported by a close second-place finish by Scott Laidlaw who posted a time of 17:31.7…In the Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, S.D., Creighton junior Marcos Gonzalez finished the four-mile course in 19:50.01, just 42 seconds behind the race winner. The Bluejays finished sixth in the 32-team field…Butler got a winning performance from Sean Robertson who took first place in the Rose-Hulman Twilight leading a group of Bulldogs that took five of the top six spots. Gonzalez ran the 5K race in 15:48.7…Xavier won the Queen City Invitational, the program's first team title since 2010. The Musketeers were led by freshman Julian Vargas, who placed third in the 5K run with a time of 16:26.7…Marquette finished fifth at the Walt Crawford Open.

Xavier freshman Grace Zdankiewicz helped the Musketeers take the team title at the Queen City Invitational. Zdankiewicz finished second with a 5K time of 20:00.08 in her first collegiate race. The Xavier women have won the Queen City title four times…Georgetown was led by Grace Jensen at the Spider Alumni Open. She placed second individually with a time of 13:23.5 in the 4K race. The Hoyas took second place in the team standings. Five Hoyas finished in the top 20…For the 22nd straight race Danelle Hotalling was Creighton's top runner as the Bluejays placed seventh at the Augustana Twilight Meet. Hotalling ran the 5K course in 17:55.34. She was sixth among 313 runners…Butler's Abby Olson won the Rose-Hulman Twilight with a 5K time of 18:21.3. at the LaVern Gibson Course which will be used for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in November.
