
Track & Field Travels to GVSU Friday

Bill Clinger Classic begins Friday at 9 a.m. CT
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track & field will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic.
The Bill Clinger Classic is a two-day event beginning on Friday, Jan. 27. All field and running events will be held on the first day starting along with the pentathlon and the first five events of the heptathlon. The heptathlon will conclude Saturday morning.
The pentathlon and heptathlon will begin at 9 a.m. CT on Friday. Field and running events will begin at 2 p.m. CT. The heptathlon will conclude Saturday at 8 a.m. CT. Live coverage of both days will be available on Flo Sports with a paid subscription.
LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Eagles are coming off their 2023 opener at the Blue Demon Alumni Invite. MU achieved 43 PRs, 17 podium places, five event winners, two top-ten marks and one school record.
MU will be competing in two meets next weekend. Part of the squad will head to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3-4), while the rest of the team will compete in the Tadd Metzger Invitational (Feb. 4) at Carthage College.

- Senior Julian Wright took first place and set the school record in the 300 meters with a time of 34.55. Wright broke a 15-year record that was set by Tyler O'Brien back in 2008. Zachariah Murray placed second in the event with a time of 35.07, No. 4 all-time at MU.
- Daylee Braden rolled to a first-place finish in the 300 meters with a time of 40.79. It is Braden's second event win on the season.
- Sophomore high jumper Annika Bynum won the event, clearing a height of 1.65 meters/ 5 feet, 5 inches. Emma Ludwig earned runner-up honors with a mark of 1.60 meters/ 5 feet, 3 inches.
- Senior Harry Baker won the high jump on the men's side, tying his personal best of 2 meters/ 6 feet, 6.75 inches. Baker's mark is tied for the best in the BIG EAST.
- In the pole vault, Kaitlyn Huebner and Emma Kingsley both cleared a height of 3.21 meters/10 feet, 6.25 inches to finish second and third, respectively.
- Mitchell Van Vooren finished runner-up in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 49.26.
