Marquette tennis teams in action at a pair of events
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's tennis teams continued their respective fall campaigns this past weekend at a pair of events.
The men's team traveled to the Ball State Invite in Muncie, Indiana. Three other teams participated in the invitational: Ball State, Butler, and IUPUI.
The Golden Eagles had a great showing in doubles action with duos Tin Krstulovic/Jasper Schaadt and Jan Jauch/Nathan Balthazor both being crowned semi reprieve winners.
Newcomers Ivan Vazquez and Teddy Wong made it to the final round of singles semi reprieve action with Vazquez taking the win.
"I thought it was a very productive weekend for both teams," interim director of tennis Jud Shaufler said. "Emilija and Tin, both had a great weekend. We showed that have players that are working hard to get better each time out."
The women's squad competed at the Betsy Kuhle Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The tournament was played in a round-robin format. Marquette and Western Michigan were joined by UW-Milwaukee, Oakland, Youngstown State, and Michigan State
Senior Emilija Kojcic went undefeated on the final day of the tournament in singles action. In doubles action the duo of Emma Davis/Lara Kaiser also notched an undefeated day to close the tournament.
UP NEXT: Marquette tennis returns to action on Oct. 12 - 14 when the men's team travels to the Toledo Invite and the women's team will compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championship hosted by Michigan State.
