Golden Eagles Head to Florida for Fort Meyers Tip-Off Nov.24-25
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's basketball team defeated Saint Peter's 96-36 on Sunday afternoon to get to 4-0 on the season. For the third time in four games, the Golden Eagles had five scorers in double figures, led by Jordan King who had a game-high 21 points with a season-high four three-pointers made.
The Golden Eagles (4-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) shot over 50 percent from the floor for the fourth time in as many games, the first time that has happened in the Megan Duffy era. MU had 24 assists today on 35 made baskets, the third time this season the team has had over 20 assists.
A Bridget Utberg layup with three minutes remaining in the game had Marquette up by 63 (96-33), the largest lead in the Megan Duffy era at Marquette.
Saint Peter's (1-3, 0-0 MAAC) was led by Reilly Sunday who had 16 points. The Peacocks shot 23.4 percent from the floor, the lowest field goal percentage by an MU opponent in the last five seasons.
