WBB Pulls Away from App State Late, Remains Undefeated

MILWAUKEE – The No. 19/19 Marquette women's basketball defeated App State on Sunday, 99-91, to move to 11-0 on the season.

The Golden Eagles had four in double figures led by Jordan King, who had a season-high 29 points and a career-high six threes. Frannie Hottinger had her team-leading third double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-high 21 rebounds, a new Al McGuire Center record.

Marquette shot an even 50 percent from the field, the eighth time in 11 games MU has shot 50 percent or better, and scored a season-high 99 points.

Seniors Liza Karlen, Frannie Hottinger, Rose Nkumu and Jordan King combined for 20 of MU's final 25 points.

App State had six in double figures led by Emily Carver and Faith Alston who had 19 apiece.

Golden Eagles are off to the best start in program history (11-0).
Marquette is 38-11 in non-conference play under Megan Duffy.
Jordan King finished with a season-high 29 points, her second 20-point game of the season and 15th of her career.
King moved into 12th all-time on the career scoring list at MU with 1,569 career points, passing Katherine Plouffe (2010-14).
King moved into third all-time in career games played at MU. The senior has started in all 135 games in her career.
King had 20 points in the first half, the most points by an MU player in a half this season.
Hottinger's 21 rebounds were the most by an MU player since Chloe Marotta had 16 vs Xavier on Jan. 25, 2023.
Liza Karlen had her fifth 20-point game of the season with 24 points and a career-high 10 made free throws (10-of-11).
King and Karlen combined for 53 of MU's 99 points.
Bridget Utberg had a Marquette career-high four assists.
Marquette has outrebounded every opponent this season and had a season-high 44 rebounds today.
Marquette had a season-high 29 assists on 34 baskets.
Third time this season trailing after one. MU trailed after the first ten minutes against then No. 23 Illinois (11/11) and against Boston College (11/24).
