MILWAUKEE – The No. 10/8 Marquette University men's basketball team held off No. 22/20 Creighton for a 72-67 victory on Saturday afternoon in front of a capacity crowd of 18,086 at Fiserv Forum.
The Golden Eagles (11-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) were led by 15 points apiece from guards Tyler Kolek and Sean Jones and pushed their BIG EAST Conference home winning streak to 20 games to tie a league record.
Baylor Scheierman scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Bluejays (9-4, 0-2 BIG EAST), who dropped to 0-2 in BIG EAST Conference action.
The Jays led by 11 early in the game before the Golden Eagles found their footing to pull within a pair at the half, 30-28. Marquette, which shot just 15.0 percent (3-of-20) from 3-point range in the first half, hit 54.5 percent (6-of-11) in the second for the victory.
Sean Jones' 15 points was a career-high and his three triples tied a career best.

- The sellout crowd of 18,086 is a Fiserv Forum record for a Marquette game.
- Marquette's 20-straight wins in BIG EAST Conference play tie an all-time record for consecutive league wins, also held by Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. MU has also previously won 20 BIG EAST games in a row from 2012-14.
- Marquette has won 19-straight games at Fiserv Forum dating back to last season, the third-longest home winning streak in the nation.
- The Golden Eagles scored a season-best 18 second chance points off 18 offensive rebounds, which ties a MU season high.
- Tyler Kolek has reached at least eight assists in four games this season. He had eight on Saturday.
- Marquette guard Stevie Mitchell returned to the starting lineup, playing for the first time since Dec. 6 against then-No. 12/16 Texas. Chase Ross had started the last four games for MU in Mitchell's absence.
- Mitchell hit a pair of 3-pointers for the fifth time in his career and first time this season.
- Kam Jones had 12 points on Saturday and sits at 976 points in his career. Jones is on pace to become the 51th player in Marquette history to reach 1,000 in a career.
- Creighton jumped out to an early 11-point lead, 14-3, as MU started 1-of-9 from the floor.
- The Golden Eagles used a 9-0 run capped by an Oso Ighodaro jumper with 3:36 to play in the first to tie the game at 26.Â
- MU missed its first seven 3-point attempts until a Sean Jones jumper from the left wing with 11:30 left in the first half. The Golden Eagles shot just 15.0% from deep (3-of-20) in the first 20 minutes.
- Sean Jones hit three 3-pointers in a game for the first time this season and the second time in his career. He was 3-of-4 in 12 minutes of action against Seton Hall on Dec. 27, 2022. The native of Columbus, Ohio had hit four triples through the first 13 games of the season entering this afternoon.
- Ighodaro grabbed a season-best 16 rebounds, marking his second game in double digits this season and the seventh time in his career.
- CU's Scheierman hit his first four 3-pointers of the afternoon. Scheierman entered the game scoring a team-best 16.0 points per game against Marquette in two meetings last season.
- Scheierman hit a career-best seven 3-pointers.
- Marquette had seven steals in the first 20 minutes and forced Creighton into 12 first half turnovers. Chase Ross had three steals in 14:50 of action in the first.
- David Joplin tied his career high of two blocks by halftime.
