 CAYCE, S.C. - The Marquette University women's tennis team (9-12) earns 4-0 sweep over Villanova (8-14) Friday morning in first round of BIG EAST Tennis Championships.

In doubles action MU started the match out strong by taking a 6-3 win at No. 1. Villanova took a 6-4 win at the No. 3 position. Lara Kaiser and Julieanne Bou clinched the doubles point for MU at No. 2 with a 7-5 victory. Â

Emilija Kojcic scored the first point in singles action for the Golden Eagles with an impressive 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1.

Julieanne Bou earned a singles point for MU at No. 3 in a straight-set win (6-3, 6-1).

Elizabeth Ferdman clinched the sweep for Marquette win at No. 6 in straight-set fashion (6-3, 6-2).
