MILWAUKEE – The No. 24 Marquette University women's volleyball team fell, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22, to No. 18 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
Senior outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton had 14 kills to lead the Golden Eagles (2-5), who hit a combined .247.
The Volunteers (7-1) hit .438 in the victory and were led by 18 kills from Morgahn Fingall (18-2-34), while Jenaisya Moore had 15 with four digs and a pair of service aces.
After losing the opening two frames, the Golden Eagles appeared to pull even with the Vols at 23-23 in the third set after an errant attack from Moore. But Tennessee challenged the ruling on the court and the call was overturned to put the Vols at match point, 24-22.
MU hit .355 in the first set to UT's .528, while the Vols hit .359 and .433 in the final two sets, respectively.

- Today was MU's fifth match this season against a ranked opponent
- Sunday's contest on World Suicide Prevention Day was Marquette's Mental Health Awareness Match
- The Golden Eagles have eight matches this season against teams currently ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll (No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 6 Oregon, No. 9 Pitt, No. 16 Creighton (twice), No. 18 Tennessee, No. 20 Purdue, No. 22 Kansas). Western Kentucky and Dayton are currently receiving votes.
- The remainder of MU's non-conference schedule will be played in Milwaukee. Marquette closes non-conference play with four matches at the Al McGuire Center on campus, the Wisconsin match at Fiserv Forum (home of MU men's basketball and the Milwaukee Bucks) and a Thursday, Sept. 14 match across town at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
- Hamilton is three kills from reaching 1,000 in her NCAA career. The native of Hartland, Wisconsin has 486 at Marquette and 997 in her career.
- UT's lone loss came in five sets at No. 1 Wisconsin last Sunday at UW Field House. The Vols rallied from a 2-0 match deficit to force a fifth set, where they fell 15-13.
- Marquette is 0-4Â all-time against the Volunteers and Sunday was the first meeting between the two programs since 2008.
