MU plays its first BIG EAST road matches next weekend at UConn and PC

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's volleyball team rolled to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 sweep of Georgetown on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center behind 12 kills from Aubrey Hamilton.
Hamilton paced the Golden Eagles (6-7, 2-0 BIG EAST), who picked up their second BIG EAST Conference victory of the weekend after Friday's sweep of Villanova. Hamilton hit .600 (12-0-20) for the second match in a row, and added four digs and a pair of blocks. Middle hitter Carsen Murray hit .625 for MU with six kills and a match-best four blocks.
As a team, Marquette hit .311 (39-7-103) and held the Hoyas to a mark of .083 (28-19-109)
Georgetown (10-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) was led by 10 kills and 10 digs from Peyton Wilhite.

NOTABLE:
- MU holds a 22-4 edge in the all-time series and has won each of the last 19 meetings. Over that time, the Hoyas have won just three of 60Â total sets.
- Hamilton continued her hot start to conference play after hitting .600 with 13 kills on Friday against Villanova.
- Jenna Reitsma served MU to a 7-0 run in the opening set, forcing Georgetown to call the match's first timeout with MU ahead 14-9.
- The Hoyas had won their previous four matches, including Friday night's sweep of DePaul in Chicago. GU held DePaul to a .076 hitting percentage (30-21-118).
- Entering Saturday's match, Georgetown opponents were hitting just .139, a league-best mark for opponent hitting percentage.
- GU's Kamryn Lee-Caracci entered the match hitting .399 to lead the BIG EAST and hit just .125 (5-3-16) on the evening.
- Head coach AJ Bonetti is in his first season as head coach at Georgetown after five seasons as an assistant coach at Maryland.
- MU hit .366 in last year's sweep of Georgetown on Nov. 4 at the Al McGuire Center, led by nine kills apiece from Hamilton and Jenna Reitsma. MU took the three sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-10.
- The lone matchup prior to MU's entrance to the BIG EAST in 2005 was a four-set win by the Hoyas in Sept. 1996.
