MILWAUKEE - The No. 23/23 Marquette women's basketball team dominated DePaul on Saturday night, 78-47, for their third conference win in a row.
Marquette (15-2, 4-2 BIG EAST) shot 57.1 percent from the floor, the 11th time this season MU has been 50-percent-or-better. MU won the rebounding battle, 39-28, and has outrebounded its opponent in every game but one this season.
Liza Karlen led the team in scoring for the eighth time this season, finishing with 19 points and six rebounds on an 8-of-9 shooting clip.
Fellow seniors Jordan King (16) and Rose Nkumu (12) finished in double figures with Karlen.
The Golden Eagles outscored the Blue Demons 24-9 in the first ten minutes. It was the third time this season MU held an opponent to single digits in the first quarter.
Marquette led 15-4 at the 4:17 mark of the first quarter and would lead by double-digits the rest of the way. The second half saw Marquette lead by as many as 32 points.
DePaul (9-9, 1-4 BIG EAST) was led by Shakara McCline who had 13 points. Leading scorer Ayana Peoples (15.7 points per game) was held to just ten.

- Largest margin of victory over DePaul since Marquette won 96-63 on Jan. 4, 2019.
- Second time this season the Golden Eagles have held an opponent to single digits in the first and second quarter with DePaul scoring nine in both tonight. St. Peter's scored seven and nine points on Nov. 19, 2023.
- DePaul's 18 points at halftime was the third-lowest point total given up in the first 20 minutes of play this season. St. Peter's scored 16 on Nov. 19, 2023, and Bucknell scored 14 on Dec. 21, 2023.
- Marquette dominated inside, outscoring DePaul 44-18 for the largest points in the paint difference of the season.
- Rose Nkumu had 12 points and nine assists tonight. Her nine assists were the most in a game since having ten in the season opener against UT Martin on Nov. 6, 2023.
- Skyler Forbes had her second career start and finished with five points and seven rebounds.
- Jordan King tied her career-high with three blocks and is now ninth all-time in career blocks with 74.
- Liza Karlen tied her career-high with two 3's made. The senior has hit two 3's in a game 12 times in her career.
- Marquette travels to Villanova on Wednesday, Jan. 17, for a 6 p.m. CT tip at Finneran Pavilion.
