Wong and Vazquez earn first career wins
CHICAGO - The Marquette University men's tennis team (1-0) earns 5-2 decision over Chicago State (0-2) Saturday evening in dual season opener. Â
Marquette quickly took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Teddy Wong and Ivan Vazquez earned their first career doubles win for the Golden Eagles at the No. 3 spot.Â
Four Golden Eagles posted points for MU in singles play including sophomore Blake Roegner who clinched the team decision at No. 2 with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory. Â
Graduate student Nathan Balthazor and senior Jan Jauch also earned points in wins for Marquette at No. 3 and No. 5.
Vazquez scored the first singles point for the Golden Eagles and tallied his first career singles win with a straight set win at No. 6, 6-1, 6-1.Â
