Golden Eagles hosts Providence on Thursday night
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-10-3, 1-5-1 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 4-0 loss at Georgetown (14-1-2, 7-0-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon.

After a quiet opening 15 minutes that didn't feature a shot by either team, the Golden Eagles quickly found themselves trailing 2-0 after a pair of scores by the league's leading scorer, Maja Lardner.

The Hoyas continued to apply pressure following the intermission and finished the afternoon with a 28-2 advantage in shots (12-2 on goal) and a 13-1 margin in corner kicks.

Marquette netminder Elise Krone finished with eight saves.
"Tough game in the nation's capital for us this afternoon, but a lot of valuable lessons are being learned," head coach Chris Allen said. "I was proud of our players' willingness to adapt and work through a new system this afternoon.

"Special players make special plays, and right now we are unfortunately on the other end some highlight goals," Allen added. "I was proud that our players stayed together and with it through a full 90 minutes, but obviously we were hoping for more. We have a two game homestand coming up and excited to honor our seniors next Sunday."
