WSOC Concludes Regular Season Thursday At Seton Hall

The Marquette University women's soccer team (5-11-3, 2-6-1 BIG EAST) wraps up the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 31 when the team travels to Seton Hall (4-11-3, 1-6-2 BIG EAST) for a 5 p.m. CT matchup.
MU Honors Seniors, On/Off Field

The Golden Eagles honored the 12 members of their 2024 senior class during a pregame ceremony on Sunday afternoon, but the celebration didn't stop at that point.

Marquette's starting lineup against No. 25 Xavier featured each of the 11 active seniors and the group was also on the pitch for the conclusion of the match as well.

Senior Molly Keiper, who missed the entire season with a knee injury, was the lone senior not to see action.

Senior Julia O'Neill assisted on classmate Kate Gibson's goal to tie the game midway through the first half and netminder Chloe Olson finished with seven saves in her final outing at Valley Fields.
O'Connell Nets Game Winner  Â

Senior Tess O'Connell leads the team with six goals, but her most recent tally was her first game winner with Marquette.

The senior midfielder headed home a perfectly-placed cross by Maggie Starker midway through the second half in a 2-1 win over Providence on Oct. 24 at Valley Fields.

O'Connell also assisted on the first goal of the evening by forward Josie Bieda.
Huggard Earns Win In First Start

Goalkeeper Charlotte Huggard made her first-collegiate start against Providence, claiming her first-career win in the process.

The Purdue transfer, who redshirted in 2023, had played just a handful of minutes all season for Marquette. Â She finished the night with six saves and the lone goal she allowed came on a penalty kick.
O'Connell Shoulders Scoring Load

Senior midfielder Tess O'Connell netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 2-1 win over Providence on Oct. 24, becoming just the second player since 2018 to net six-or-more scores in a season.
Alyssa Bombacino (7, 2019) led the team in goals and was aided by a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Villanova.
The Wilmington, Mass., native netted just one score in her 66 career matches at Rhode Island, but now owns six in 19 outings this year with the Golden Eagles.
O'Connell top the roster with 14 points and is the only player to have started all 19 matches in 2024.
