#MUBB Pulls Away For 78-50 Win At Providence

Marquette 3-0 in league play for first time since 2012-13
The No. 8/8 Marquette University men's basketball team (12-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 78-50 win at Providence (7-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) on New Year's Eve in Amica Mutual Pavilion.
Guard Kam Jones led the way with 18 points and 10 assists and guard Stevie Mitchell added 14 points, five steals and five rebounds. The double-double was the third of the season for Jones.
The 28-point final margin is tied for the fourth-largest in BIG EAST play for Marquette.
Marquette led by as many as 32 in the second half, holding PC to 34.0 percent shooting from the floor and forcing 22 turnovers (turned into 27 points).
The Golden Eagles used an impressive first-half performance at both ends of the court to take a 47-20 advantage to the locker room at the intermission. MU shot 52.9 percent from the floor and held the Friars to just 27.3 percent while forcing 14 turnovers.
