
WBB Pulls Away 72-54 to Complete Season Sweep of Butler on Saturday

Marquette heads to Uncasville, Connecticut for the 2024 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball tournament next weekend.
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marquette women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Butler on Saturday with a 74-52 win in the regular season finale.
The Golden Eagles (22-7, 11-7 BIG EAST) were led by Liza Karlen, who had a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. 15 of Karlen's points came in the second half. The senior forward picked up two quick fouls, the second coming at the 6:47 mark in the first, that forced her to sit the rest of the half.
Jordan King added 17 points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter. King and Karlen accounted for 28 of Marquette' 39 points in the second half.
Skylar Forbes had 13 points in her fifth double-digit scoring outing of the season in key minutes off the bench. Rose Nkumu had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and four steals.
The Bulldogs went on a 13-2 run over the last 3:18 to end the half that cut the deficit to two. The Golden Eagles held Butler to just eight points in the third, the third time this season MU held the Bulldogs to single digits in a quarter.
Back-to-back 3's by Jordan King ballooned the lead to 18 at the 6:16 mark of the fourth.
Butler (14-15, 6-12 BIG EAST) was led by Karsyn Norman, who had 10 points. The Bulldogs came into the game fourth in the nation in 3-point percentage (39.3 percent) but were held to 5-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc.
NOTABLES:
