WTEN Falls 5-2 to DePaul in BIG EAST Opener

Kojcic and Jarmond pick up singles wins for Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team fell 5-2 to BIG EAST foe, DePaul Friday evening at Elite Sports Club – North Shore.
The Blue Demons opened the match by claiming the doubles point with a pair of wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots.
In singles play the Golden Eagles dropped straight-set matches at No. 3 and 5 and fell behind 3-0 early within the match.
DePaul went on to take wins at the No. 2 and 4 spots to take a 5-0 advantage to secure the team decision.
Senior Emilija Kojcic earned a victory at No. 1, after dropping the first set 6-2, the Pancevo, Serbia native strung together two sets (6-4, 6-3) to put the Golden Eagles on the board.
Junior Tiera Jarmond picked up the second point for the Golden Eagles with a tiebreaker win at No. 6 (6-7, 6-4,10-3).
UP NEXT: Marquette will travel to Orlando for USTA Spring break tennis. The Golden Eagles will open play March 12 vs Marist at 5:00 pm CT.
