WTEN Closes Regular Season With 5-2 Win Over Butler

Golden Eagles finish 1-1 in Friday night double header
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team competed in a double header Friday at Elite Sports Club – River Glen, hosting Xavier and Butler.
Xavier Matchup
Xavier opened the match by claiming the doubles point with a win at No. 2 and No. 3.
Due to the Golden Eagles having a double header, Marquette and Xavier agreed to play to clinch.
The Musketeers entered singles play with a 1-0 advantage with the doubles point. Xavier went on gained three straight-set victories to take the 4-0 win over the Golden Eagles.
Butler Matchup
Marquette opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3.
Lara Kaiser picked up the first singles win for the Golden Eagles at the No. 6 position (6-2,6-2)
Senior Sarah Badawi earned a straight-set singles victory for Marquette at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4) to give the Golden Eagles a 3-1 advantage.
Emilija Kojcic clinched the Golden Eagles victory with a straight set win at No. 1 (6-3,6-4)
Senior Tiana Windbuchler picked up a win in three sets at the No. 5 spot (3-6,6-4,6-4)
With the win, Marquette reclaims victory over Butler after the Bulldogs have taken the last three meetings.
UP NEXT: Marquette will open postseason play at the BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, S.C..
