DENVER – The Marquette University men's lacrosse team dropped its regular season finale, 15-9, at No. 5/6 University of Denver on Friday at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Luke Blanc led the Golden Eagles (4-10, 0-5 BIG EAST) with a pair of goals, while seven other players also scored, including defenseman Mason Woodward and faceoff specialist Luke Williams.
Woodward also contributed four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the final game of an All-American career. The native of Towson, Maryland departs as MU's all-time leader with 265 ground balls, in addition to 84 caused turnovers and nine goals.
The Golden Eagles pulled the game within a goal midway through the second quarter but used a six-straight tallies, including a 5-0 third quarter to retake control.
The BIG EAST champion Pioneers (10-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) were paced by a game-high four goals from Cody Malawsky and Richie Connell added a hat trick.
Opening faceoff was delayed over two hours as storms rolled through the Denver area. First draw came at 10:10 p.m. Central time.

- Marquette attackman Carsen Brandt scored once on Friday and recorded the third-highest single-season point (28) and assist (12) totals ever for a MU true freshman. Only Bobby O'Grady (50 points in 2022) and Conor Gately (36 in 2013) had more points, while Gately (20 assists in 2013) and Will Foster (16 in 2022) had more assists.
- Denver leads the all-time series 13-2 and has won each of the last eight matchups. The Pios lead the series, 7-1, in games played in Colorado.
