
Steiner Leads Marquette in 20-12 Win Over Butler Wednesday Afternoon

Senior midfielder had career-high nine points
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team defeated Butler, 20-12, in its BIG EAST home opener Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (5-8, 1-1 BIG EAST) were led by Leigh Steiner, who had a program single game high tying eight goals on 12 shots. The senior midfielder added an assist, four ground balls and three draw controls.
Josie Kropp had 11 draw controls, her fifth game this season with 10-or-more draw controls, and has 111 on the season to rank first in the conference.
Meg Bireley had four goals, her eighth game this season with 3-or-more goals and has 52 goals on the season.
Tess Osburn and CJ Meehan both had hat tricks.
Butler (2-9, 1-2 BIG EAST) was led by Kate Kaptrosky who had four goals.
