Junior owns program record in outdoor 800m
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Marquette University track and field's Daylee Braden competed in the 800m at the NCAA West First Round on Thursday night.
Braden, who owns the program record in the 800m, ran a 2:09.75 to finish seventh in her heat and 40th overall.
It was only her seventh 800m race in her career.
"Daylee only began training for the 800m in early March," said Bert Rogers. "To get to this level this quickly is amazing. With another year to work at it and gain more experience in bigger races hopefully we'll be back next year. Super proud of Daylee and the season she had."
Annika Bynum competes in the high jump on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. The top 12 marks advance to the NCAA championships in Eugene, Oregon.
"We are really looking forward to Annika's event Saturday," said Rogers. "She's had a great few weeks of preparation and is feeling really good going into it."
