MSOC Adds Eight Signees to 2024 Class

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University head men's coach David Korn has announced the addition of eight student-athletes to cap off the squads 2024 roster. The additions include midfielder Gabe Anguil (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin), goalkeeper Marten Brink (Paderborn, Germany), forward Andreas Christou (Leivadia, Cyprus), forward Mitchell Dryden (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), and midfielder Matthew Mclaughlin (Broadview Heights, Ohio), Midfielder Justin Milovanov (Brooklyn, New York), defender Gabriel Rokov (Zadar, Croatia) and goalkeeper Cameron Simpson (Middlesbrough, England).

"We are really excited to have this group of men joining us in the fall. Bringing them together with our other members of the recruiting class and our strong returning group will help elevate our quality, experience and depth at all positions on the field," Korn said. "This group will make an immediate impact this fall and is committed to reaching our goals of excellence on and off the field."

Prior to Marquette: Attended Milwaukee through junior season, played two season and sat out 2023 season due to injury ... As a sophomore was the only player to start all 17 games for the Panthers on the season ... Finished third on the team in scoring, recording 13 points on two goals and a team-high nine assists ... As a freshmen earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team following a season in which he made 13 starts among his 16 appearances, recording six points.

Prep: Capped four-year career at Marquette High School by being named the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Gatorade State Player of the Year … Finished with 11 goals and 15 assists to lead the Hilltoppers to their 15th WIAA State title … First-Team All Greater Metro Conference selection each of his final two seasons.

Marten Brink | Goalkeeper | Paderborn, Germany | Gymnasium SHS

Prior to Marquette: Attended Gymnasium SHS … Competed for U19 Bundesliga (highest youth league) … State Champion with U19 SC Paderborn, playing under head coach Rafael Agacinski.

Why He Chose Marquette: "Best combination for me when it comes to soccer and school."

Andreas Christou | Forward | Leivadia, Cyprus | Pascal English School Larnaca

Prior to Marquette: Attended Pascal English School Larnaca … Competed for Cyprus National Team … Named the captain of Cyprus u17 National Team.

Why He Chose Marquette: "Vision of coach Korn, opportunity to compete in BIG EAST, and level of academics."

Mitchell Dryden | Forward | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | University Wisconsin

Prior to Marquette: Attended Wisconsin through his sophomore season ... As a sophomore played 16 games, starting in eight … Tied for the team lead in goals with three ... Led the team in shots on goals percentage … As a freshman made 16 appearances and two starts, tallying two goals in his freshman season.

Prep: Dryden played in the 2021 High School All-American Game after he led his conference in scoring as a senior with 35 goals and 22 assists for 92 points in 22 games playing for Whitefish Bay High School … Led the conference in scoring as a junior with 27 goals and nine assists in 11 games to earn first-team all-conference, first-team all-state, first-team all-region and All-America honors.

Why He Chose Marquette: "The school itself was a huge pro that of the academic department as well as the world class sports facilities. Being a fan all my life, it felt like a place I wanted to finish out my last two years of college."

Matt Mclaughlin | Midfielder | Broadview Heights, Ohio | Notre Dame

Prior to Marquette: Played four seasons at Notre Dame ... Played in four matches as a forward during his debut season ... Dished out three assists in the win over Trine as a sophomore ... Appeared in three matches as a midfielder during his final season in South Bend ... Scored his first career goal in the win over Oberlin.

Prep: Attended Saint Ignatius high school and was selected to First Team All-Ohio recognition … Named United Soccer Coaches High School Scholar All-American Boys Player of the Year.

Why He Chose Marquette: "Conversations with coach Korn and the ability to gain a graduate degree."

Justin Milovanov | Midfielder | Brooklyn, New York | James Madison H.S.

Prior to Marquette: Attended UMass Lowell for his junior season ... As a junior played 15 games, starting in 14 … Recorded two goals on the season ... Led the team in minutes played (1108).

Prep: A three-year letterwinner at James Madison high school … Led the team to conference titles in 2017 and 2019 … Named team captain in 2019 … Teammate of Matt Iriarte on Met Oval (club).

Why He Chose Marquette: "To pursue excellence in academics and athletics."

Gabriel Rokov | Defender | Zadar, Croatia | Columbia International University

Prior to Marquette: Attended Columbia International University for past three years … Named to 2021 second team All-Conference … 2021 NCCAA All-American … Named to 2022 first team All-Conference team and 2022 NCCAA All American … Four-year letter winner at Bg/Brg Oeversee in soccer.

Why He Chose Marquette: "I chose Marquette because of the academics and coach Korn's vision for the program."

Cameron Simpson | Goalkeeper | Middlesbrough, England | Egglescliffe school

Prior to Marquette: Has been on scholarship at Middlesbrough for the past two years ... Played for Middlesbrough from 2020-24.
