Golden Eagles have four meets before BIG EAST Championships in November
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University Associate Head Cross Country Coach Jack Hackett announced the 2024 cross country schedule on Monday.
"We're going to get a chance to see some of our regional competition a few times this year and the plan is to progress and build up to the BIG EAST Championship and regional meets," Hackett said. "There is a lot of talent in this group and we want to be competitive when we show up to a race. We are opening the season close to home with a shorter race to keep with that progression we have in mind. Each race gets more and more competitive and challenging."
Hackett, a 2013 Marquette graduate, begins his first season in charge of the program.
The Golden Eagles begin the 2024 season at the Vic Godfrey Open in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sept. 6 hosted by UW-Parkside. MU then heads to Notre Dame for the National Catholic Invitational on Sept. 20.
Marquette stays in Wisconsin for the Blugold Invitational in Eau Claire on Oct. 4 hosted by UW-Eau Claire. MU heads to Peoria, Illinois for the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 20, the final tune-up before the conference championships.
The BIG EAST Championships, hosted by Georgetown, are Nov. 1 in Leesburg, Virginia. The NCAA Great Lakes Regional is Nov. 15 in Norton, Ohio, and the NCAA Championships are Nov. 23 in Verona, Wisconsin.
