Peacock features the broadcast, with John Fanta (play-by-play) and Donny Marshall (analyst) calling the action. Series With Seton Hall Dates Back To 1956
  Â
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with Seton Hall, 24-14, with all but one of the matchups coming after MU joined the BIG EAST Conference in 2005-06.
  Â
SHU opened the series with a 96-78 victory over Marquette on March 17, 1956 in MU's first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament in New York. The next meeting wouldn't come until 50 years later when Marquette moved to the BIG EAST.
  Â
The teams split the season series in 2023-24, with each program winning on its respective home court. Â In the most recent matchup, Marquette claimed a 75-57 victory on Jan. 27, 2024 at Fiserv Forum. Â Forward David Joplin scored 20 points and guard Stevie Mitchell added 13 points and the Golden Eagles finished the game shooting 51.7 percent from the floor. Â
Late Rally Falls Short In First Conference Loss  Â
  Â
Marquette never led in Saturday's 59-57 setback against Xavier and trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half before closing the gap to just two points in the final seconds.
  Â
The Golden Eagles, unfortunately, had the ball knocked away on the final possession prior to a game-tying shot attempt and came up just short in the team's first BIG EAST defeat of 2024-25.
  Â
Marquette has claimed as many as six-straight victories in BIG EAST play in each of the last four seasons (including 2024-25) and are 37-10 (.804) in league action since the start of 2022-23, which is the best mark in the conference during that time span. Â Through games of Jan. 19, UConn is second (36-11) and Creighton third (33-14) in league action.
Continuity Is Key To Recent Success Â
  Â
Since the 2022-23 campaign, Marquette is the only power conference team that hasn't signed a NCAA Division I transfer, leading to as consistent a starting lineup as any program in the country.
  Â
Through games of Jan. 19, Marquette is one of just 11 squads (355 total) to feature the same starting lineup (K. Jones, Mitchell, Joplin, Ross, Gold). Â Two years ago, Marquette and Marshall were the only two teams in the country to utilize the same starting five the entire season.
  Â
Since the opening contest of the 2022-23 campaign (Kolek, Ighodaro, Prosper, Mitchell, Jones), just eight different players have started a game for MU, the lowest total in all of NCAA Division I. Â
Gold On The Glass Against Xavier
  Â
Junior forward Ben Gold finished with a career-best 13 rebounds in 32 minutes of action against Xavier, thanks in large part to a personal-high eight boards at the offensive end.
  Â
Gold's 13 caroms were the most by any player in the game and his eight at the offensive end of the court were more than any total amount grabbed by a Marquette teammate. Â His previous career-best total was eight rebounds against Southern on Nov. 28, 2023. Â Prior to Saturday, Gold had never had more than four offensive rebounds in a single game.
