Marquette adds elite talent from Wisconsin, Norway, and the USTA circuit
The Marquette men's tennis program is thrilled to welcome Alex Thomas, Chad Anderson, and Even Solheim to the 2026 roster.
Â
Solheim comes to MU from Oslo, Norway and is planning on majoring in Finance. A standout in Norway's club tennis system, he arrives with an accomplished championship resume. He is a 2025 National Champion in Mixed Doubles U19 and earned third place finishes at the 2025 National Championships in both Mixed Doubles (seniors, outdoors) and Boys Doubles U19. His success stretches back through the junior ranks, including multiple podium finishes in 2023, third place in Boys Doubles U16 both indoors and outdoors, along with a Norwegian Cup U19 title and a National Championship in Mixed Doubles U16 (indoors). Competing solely in Norway's club-based structure, his team has also excelled nationally, claiming the 2025 National Championship Team titles (senior, indoors and outdoors) and finishing as the 2024 Junior Indoor National Runner-Up.
Thomas travels to Marquette from Green Bay, Wisconsin and will be majoring in Finance. A multi-sport athlete throughout his prep career, he lettered in JV football as a freshman starting quarterback (2022–23) and later added JV hockey as a junior forward (2024–25), but his greatest impact came on the tennis courts. A four-year varsity starter and the top singles player for Notre Dame Academy, he served as team co-captain during his senior season and built one of the strongest resumes in the state. Thomas was named FRCC Player of the Year as a sophomore, earned First Team All-Conference honors in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and was recognized as the Northeastern Wisconsin High School Tennis Player of the Year. His postseason success includes a Division II State Singles Finalist finish as a sophomore and a Division I State Singles Semifinalist and third-place result as a junior. Ranked the No. 1 player in Wisconsin on the tennis recruiting network, he also helped lead his team to two state tournament appearances, two conference championships, and a state runner-up finish.
Anderson a native of Rochester Hills, MI will be joining brother Clayton Anderson for the 2026 slate. A four-year varsity standout from 2022–25, he capped his high school career as a 2025 team captain and one of the most decorated players in program history. A four-time First Team All-State selection, he earned the prestigious Mr. Tennis honor and became the school's first-ever boys' individual state champion. He finished with 91 career wins, the second-most in school history, while helping lead his team to a league championship. Beyond high school play, he competed on the USTA circuit, capturing the L2 Battle of Mississippi title. Here at Marquette, Anderson plans on majoring in Accounting.
