
Forbes, Vice Lead Marquette To 43-Point Win

MILWAUKEE – Led by double-double efforts from Skylar Forbes and Halle Vice, Marquette heads into the holiday break following an 86-43 defeat of Truman State on Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center. Forbes finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Vice had 22 points and 13 rebounds.
MU began the game knocking down a string of 3-pointers but the Bulldogs kept the game tight through the opening six minutes. After giving up a 3-pointer to close out the first to cut MU's lead to six, Marquette opened the second with 13 unanswered before Truman State called a timeout with 5:12 on the clock with MU's lead rising to 31-12. The Golden Eagles attacked the undersized Bulldogs inside during the run with the first eight coming from Forbes and Vice before Bridget Utberg tacked on a triple from the wing.
MU's run was extended to 17 before TSU got on the board in the period with 3:05 remaining in the half. Holding the Bulldogs to just 1-of-15 in the period, Marquette led 38-16 after 20 minutes. Forbes had 17 of the Golden Eagles' points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field.
With the lead still at 22 late in the third, MU closed the period on an 8-0 run, and the Golden Eagles finished off the game in the fourth by outscoring the Bulldogs 23-10 over the final 10 minutes.

Marquette will be off for the next week nine days before hosting St. John's on Dec. 29. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.
