Golden Eagles will face North Dakota again Saturday afternoon
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's tennis team opened weekend play against North Dakota Friday evening.
North Dakota started the match by winning doubles at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, giving them a 1-0 team advantage.
Freshmen TJ Ryerson scored Marquette's first point of the night with a straight-set victory at No. 4.
The Fighting Hawks went on to pick up two victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to give them a 3-1 lead.
Cyrus Ahmad picked up a three-set victory at No. 2 (2-6, 7-6, 6-4) to give MU its second point.
Evan Glebov picked up second career win as a Golden Eagle at No. 6 (7-6, 7-5) to briefly tie the match before the Fighting Hawks took the team decision at No. 5 in three sets.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles will host University of North Dakota again Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at Sprovieri Tennis Complex.
