BIG EAST Release
MILWAUKEE — Marquette University midfielder Noah Snyder is the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week and Nolan Rappis is on the league's weekly honor roll for men's lacrosse, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Snyder posted the first five points of his career in the 15-7 win over Cleveland State on Saturday with a hat trick and two assists. He assisted both of sophomore Beau Westphal's second quarter goals and recorded all three goals after the half. His first two scores came consecutively to end the third quarter and pushed MU from a two- to four-goal advantage after 45 minutes.
Rappis, a senior attackman, had a game-high six points on four assists and a pair of goals as he orchestrated a MU attack that out-shot the Vikings, 56-24. He scored both of his goals in the opening half. The native of Delafield, Wisconsin leads MU this season with 18 points (7-11-18) through four games after entering the season with 16 total points in 19 career games.
Snyder is the first Golden Eagle to earn freshman of the week honors since current MU sophomore Carsen Brandt earned consecutive accolades the first two weeks of his NCAA career on Feb. 4 and 12 last season. Snyder and Brandt each had hat tricks against Cleveland State on Saturday.
Marquette returns to action on Saturday, March 1 at No. 13/12 Harvard. The two squads meet for the first time ever at noon Central time on ESPN+.
