#MUBB Falls 86-84 To No. 6/6 St. John’s In Overtime

Golden Eagles open BIG EAST tourney play vs. Xavier Thursday at 1:30 p.m. CT
MILWAUKEE — The No. 20/20 Marquette University men's basketball team fell to the No. 6/6 St. John's Red Storm, 84-86, Saturday at Fiserv Forum in overtime.
Senior guard Kam Jones led for the Golden Eagles, posting 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. St. John's scored the game-winning basket as time expired after its initial shot attempt was missed, but the rebound was knocked away and Zuby Ejiofor's floater proved to be the difference.
Marquette and St. John's traded the lead five times over the first half, and the Golden Eagles held their largest lead halfway through the first. Powered by senior forward David Joplin's 12 points, Marquette went into halftime down by one.
The back-and-forth continued through the second half. St. John's took its largest lead in the second half, going up by six. Marquette overcame the deficit to force the game into overtime before falling in overtime.
For the Red Storm, RJ Luis Jr finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds.

- Senior guard Kam Jones finished with 32 points, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 47 games, the best active streak in the nation
- Saturday's attendance of 17,983 was the sixth sellout at Fiserv Forum this season, tying last year's season high for the arena
