
Olsen Wins Gold in the 400m on Saturday at BIG EAST Outdoor Championships

Sophomore set program record Friday and broke his own PR Saturday
STORRS, Connecticut – Marquette University track & field sophomore Danny Olsen won gold in the 400m on Saturday at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
"I'm so happy for Danny," Bert Rogers said. "He has had a rollercoaster season battling injuries, but he put everything together at the right time. He is a terrific competitor."
Olsen broke his own program record with a time of 46.21 seconds. Olsen becomes Marquette's first ever conference champion in the 400m. The sophomore set the previous program record of 46.46 seconds in Friday's prelims.
Annika Bynum had her best performance at the conference outdoor championship, earning silver in the high jump at 1.70 meters.
Julia Beck earned bronze in her final BIG EAST 100 hurdles race with a time of 14.09 seconds.
Aaron Hughes earned his first outdoor medal with a third-place finish in the 100m finals at 10.58 seconds.
"I'm very proud of this group, we competed hard today and had some terrific performances," Rogers said. "It was a season of growth and I'm proud of how far we have progressed."
