Golden Eagles opening season with 5-of-7 on the road
The Marquette University women's soccer team (3-1-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) heads to Minnesota this week, for a two-match, five-day road swing.
  Â
The Golden Eagles play at Minnesota on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 12 p.m. CT before taking on St. Thomas at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, Aug. 31 in non-conference action.
MU On The Road Again
  Â
Marquette (3-1-0) is opening the 2025 campaign with five of its first seven matches on the road, but has already claimed a pair of wins (NIU, Milwaukee) away from Valley Fields.
  Â
In 2024, the Golden Eagles finished just 2-6-1 on the road and didn't pick up their third overall victory until mid-September.
Balanced Scoring On Display
  Â
Marquette has netted a total of six goals through the first four matches, with six different players finding the back of the net for the Golden Eagles.
  Â
A trio of players, Adrianna Alberts, Abby Ruhland and Molly Keiper have collected their respective first collegiate scores in 2025 and Jocelyn Leigh netted her first for Marquette in Sunday's setback to No. 21 Wisconsin. Leigh finished the 2024 campaign with a pair of goals as a freshman at Loyola.
Wade Near Perfect In NetÂ
  Â
Valparaiso transfer Hailey Wade has made an immediate impact in net for Marquette, opening the season with a trio of shutouts prior to Sunday's 2-1 loss to No. 21 Wisconsin.
  Â
Through four outings, she owns a goals-against-average of just 0.50 and has made a total of 11 saves.
  Â
Wade started eight of her 11 matches at Valpo in 2024 and concluded the year with 55 saves and one shutout.
Allen Not Afraid To Use Bench
  Â
While nine different players have started each of the team's four matches, head coach Chris Allen hasn't been afraid to use his bench.
  Â
A total of 24 players have now seen action and two squad members (McMinn and Oliviero) have been sidelined with injuries and entered the season as expected contributors.
Ruhland Patiently Waited For Goal
  Â
Senior Abby Ruhland began the season with just four career appearances for the Golden Eagles after missing the entire 2023 and 2024 campaigns due to injury.
  Â
She returned to the pitch as a reserve in the season opener and followed that up with her first-career goal in the 2-0 victory over NDSU on Aug. 17, heading home a service from Emily Fix.
MU Facing Familiar Opponents
  Â
The Golden Eagles are continuing recent series with both Minnesota and St. Thomas in 2025, having met both programs in each of the last three seasons.
  Â
Marquette's last victory over the Gophers came on the road in 2019 and the team is 3-0-1 in its four all-time matchups with the Tommies.
