The Marquette men's tennis team opened tournament season last weekend at the River Forest Collegiate Invite hosted by Northern Illinois University. The Golden Eagles participated in both singles and doubles on Friday and Saturday.

In the quarterfinals, Coppage posted a 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 win to advance to the semifinals. Next up for Coppage was Jack Davidson from Western Michigan. Coppage left little room for doubt, defeating Davidson in a 6-3, 7-5 straight set effort. In the final round, Coppage put up a good effort but fell 4-6, 2-6 to Tin Ostro of Illinois State.
On the doubles side the Golden Eagles snagged three wins starting with Blake Roegner and Teddy Wong defeating Drake pair Blake Johnson and Alex Yeager 6-4 in the quarterfinal. The pair was then defeated 6-0 by Iker Arrastia Gaztambide and Nikola Puntaric in the semifinals.
Doubles tandem Evan Glebov and Ivan Vazquex outlasted Saint Louis pair John Varley and Luca Lo Nardo 7-6 in the quarterfinals before facing Mihailo Savic and Victor Dorojan of UIC in the semifinals. The two pairs battled, but it was Glebov and Vazquez who pulled out the 7-6 win.
