#MUBB Falls 80-75 At DePaul Friday Night

Parham, Owens finish with double figures in points
The Marquette University men's basketball team (6-13, 1-7 BIG EAST) wrapped up a two-game road swing with an 80-75 loss at DePaul (11-7, 3-4 BIG EAST) on Friday night at Wintrust Arena.
Freshman Nigel James Jr. led the way with 18 points and added eight assists. Sophomore forward Royce Parham finished with 14 points and classmate Damarius Owens added 12 points.
DePaul quickly erased Marquette's halftime advantage with a 14-0 run to begin the second half and led 50-47 at the first media timeout with 15:57 left. The Golden Eagles were never able to recover from the early run and the Blue Demons led by double digits for a majority of the second half. Marquette made a late run after trailing by as many as 15 points, closing to within four points with just under a minute left, but DePaul was able to hang on for the win.
Marquette led by as many as 11 points in the first half and 44-36 at the intermission after shooting a season-best 60.7 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Six different players contributed at least six points prior to intermission and an 11-0 run early in the game gave the Golden Eagles a 13-4 advantage.
