Peacock/NBCSN features the broadcast, with John Fanta (play-by-play) and Jordan Cornette (analyst) calling the action.  Following Saturday's outing, the Golden Eagles will finally enjoy their first bye in the league schedule prior to hosting Butler on Feb. 7 for National Marquette Day.
Series With Seton Hall Dates Back To 1956
  Â
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with Seton Hall, 26-15, with all but one of the matchups coming after MU joined the BIG EAST Conference in 2005-06.
  Â
SHU opened the series with a 96-78 victory over Marquette on March 17, 1956 in MU's first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament in New York. The next meeting wouldn't come until 50 years later when Marquette moved to the BIG EAST.
  Â
The Golden Eagles have claimed seven of the last nine matchups, but the Pirates posted a 79-73 victory on Dec. 30 at Fiserv Forum in the most recent outing. Â SHU scored the final 13 points of the game to rally for the win and Ben Gold led the way offensively with a career-high 19 points.
MU, SHU Would Rather Take Take Than Give
  Â
Saturday's matchup features the top-two programs in the league in steals per game, with the Pirates averging 9.7 thefts per contest and the Golden Eagles ranked second (9.4 spg.).
  Â
Through games of Jan. 28, Seton Hall ranks 11th in the country in steals and Marquette is 20th.Â
  Â
Both teams feature two players ranked among the league's top-10, with Marquette's Chase Ross first overall with 2.4 steals per game and Nigel James Jr. seventh (1.7 spg.). Â SHU's Adam Clark is currently second (2.2 spg.) behind Ross and A.J. Staton-McCray is eighth (1.6 spg.).
  Â
In the first matchup this year, Marquette forced 13 turnovers, courtesy of eight steals, but the Pirates managed just five thefts on eight Golden Eagle miscues.
James Jr. BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
  Â
Guard Nigel James Jr. was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced Monday morning.
  Â
The Huntington, N.Y., native averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest in outings against Providence and Butler. Â He combined to shoot 64.5 percent (20-of-31) from the field overall and 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) from behind the 3-point line in 39.5 minutes per night.
