Golden Eagles Record Second Win of the Season

MU defeated IU Indy 7-0 on Saturday afternoon
MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The Marquette University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory over IU Indy on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles opened the match by securing the crucial doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, taking a 1-0 lead.
Maria Poon opened singles play cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory in the third position. Aiyana Abbott also recorded a straight set win, defeating Calli Sokolowski 7-5, 6-2.
Elise Barnstedt clinched the match point for Marquette in a 6-2, 7-5 effort against Kally Kadzinski.
Emma Davis claimed the fifth point for the Golden Eagles after seeing her match go into extended sets. Davis dropped the first set 7-6, but responded in the second taking a 6-4 win to force a third. Davis saw success in the superset as she defeated Sara Jankovic 10-6.
IU Indy had no answer for the Golden Eagles as play continued. Luciana Mendoza took her first set 6-3 and quickly secured the second 6-0.
Elena Duva logged the final point for Marquette in a strong 6-4, 6-1 effort.
