Marquette alum becomes the first golfer in program history to earn a spot on the PGA Tour
MILWAUKEE – Former Marquette University men's golfer Hunter Eichhorn has earned his PGA TOUR card for the 2027 season, becoming the first player in program history to reach golf's highest level through PGA TOUR membership. Eichhorn secured his card following a standout 2026 Korn Ferry Tour campaign in which he established himself among the circuit's top performers.
A native of Carney, Michigan, Eichhorn capped a remarkable rise from one of the most decorated golfers in Marquette history to the PGA TOUR. Last December, a win on the Second State of Q-School guaranteed him a spot on the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2026 season. With one tournament remaining, he has nine top-10 finishes and is ranked among the top point earners on the circuit, positioning himself to secure PGA TOUR status for the first time in his young career.
Eichhorn competed for the Golden Eagles from 2017-22 and built one of the most accomplished careers in school history. He was a three-time BIG EAST Player of the Year, four-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and five-time PING All-Midwest Region honoree. He remains Marquette's career leader in scoring average (71.38), strokes versus par, counting scores and rounds of par-or-better.
One of the most dominant players ever to compete in the BIG EAST, Eichhorn claimed six collegiate victories, including BIG EAST individual titles in 2018 and 2021. He also became the only golfer in program history to compete in four NCAA Regionals and posted a school-record round of 61 at the 2022 Puerto Rico Classic.
Eichhorn's collegiate resume also included national recognition. The Upper Peninsula native earned PING All-America honors, appeared on the PGA Tour U watch list and was a finalist for numerous national awards while helping elevate Marquette Golf's profile on the national stage.
Following his Marquette career, Eichhorn steadily climbed the professional ranks. Full-time status on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2026 provided the breakthrough opportunity he needed, and he responded with a season highlighted by consistent performances, 12 top-25 finishes and nearly $400,000 in earnings heading into the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. His nine top-10 finishes is tied for the most on the Tour this season.
