Golden Eagles add pro goalkeeper and two-time MAC champion to coaching staff
MILWAUKEE – Marquette women's soccer head coach Chris Allen announced the addition of Lili Berg as assistant coach ahead of the 2026 season.
A native of New Berlin, Wisconsin, Berg returns to the Milwaukee area after most recently serving as a goalkeeper coach with Bavarians United Milwaukee, where she led training sessions for youth goalkeepers and assisted with MLS NEXT players at the U15-U18 levels.
"We're thrilled to welcome Lili Berg back home to Marquette," Allen said. "As a Milwaukee native, this is a special moment for her and for our program. She has competed at the highest levels of the game, both collegiately and professionally, and knows what it takes to win. She's lifted trophies throughout her career, and that championship experience will be invaluable to our program. She'll be an outstanding mentor for our goalkeepers, bringing a wealth of knowledge, energy, and a passion for developing student-athletes."
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Marquette Women's Soccer staff," Berg said. "I want to thank Coach Allen for believing in my ability to contribute to this program. As both a former collegiate and professional athlete, I'm excited to bring that perspective and experience to our team. I'm passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field, and I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our players while pursuing championships together."
Berg has also gained international coaching experience over the last two years, including time with Fram F.C. in Iceland and multiple roles in Australia with Kick Academy and Premier Football Tuition. In those positions, she focused on technical training and player development for youth athletes ranging from ages 5-12.
As a player, Berg competed professionally in both Iceland and Australia, most recently with Geelong Galaxy FC in the Victorian Women's Premier League. She earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors, along with the club's Players' Player and Best and Fairest recognition following the 2025 campaign. Her international playing career also included 17 appearances with Fram F.C. in Iceland's second division. Before turning professional overseas, Berg trained with Chelsea FC Women's academy, twice invited to work with the club's U16 side and first-team squad during summer stints in 2015 and 2016.
Berg enjoyed a highly decorated collegiate career at Bowling Green State University, where she emerged as one of the Mid-American Conference's top goalkeepers from 2020-23. A two-time All-MAC Second Team selection, she helped lead the Falcons to MAC regular-season and tournament championships in 2020 and 2021, along with NCAA Championship appearances in both seasons. Over her career, she appeared in more than 50 matches, recorded over 20 shutouts and was named a team captain in 2022.
She was equally successful in the classroom, earning Academic All-MAC honors in all four seasons and Academic All-District recognition while posting some of the league's top statistical marks, including a goals-against average under 1.00 during her standout junior campaign. Berg began her career at Ohio State before transferring to Bowling Green, where she became one of the program's most accomplished and consistent performers in goal.
In addition to her playing experience, Berg holds a master's degree in kinesiology and sport administration from Bowling Green State University, completed in December 2023. Her academic background includes training in sport psychology, nutrition and athlete performance.
Berg also holds coaching certifications through the Scottish FA and U.S. Soccer, along with Football Australia's Foundations of Football course, and is continuing her development through United Soccer Coaches' Goalkeeping Level 1 licensure.
