Amplo on Randy Black:
“Randy Black is an interesting kid. He was supposed to go to a post graduate year this year but decided to come to Marquette earlier than expected and has got a ton of potential as a long-stick middie or a close defenseman. A really tenacious, really tough, blue collar kid. Owns his own tree cutting service up in Canada, so he’s not afraid of work. I really think he appreciates the opportunity.”
Prior to Marquette: Black played at The Hill Academy, where current MU players Kyle Whitlow and Tyler Gilligan also competed … Led the Hill Academy to a 13-1 record in 2015 … Helped the Hill Academy to a championship in the 2015 North American Lacrosse Tournament with a 12-11 overtime victory over Culver … Named 2014 team most valuable player … Played for the Orangeville Northmen junior A box lacrosse team in 2015 after winning rookie of the year honors in 2014 for the club’s junior B squad … Assistant captain for box lacrosse team in 2013 and 2011 … Also played hockey.
Personal: Born in Orangeville, Ontario … Son of Barb Black and has one older sibling, Morgan … Plans to major in sociology.
