The 2023-24 season will be the first season as an assistant for Louis Bennett II at Marquette University.
Bennett II, recently transitioning from his professional career to coaching last serving as head coach for Chicago Kics FC U9 girls in the spring of 2022, after coaching Inter North Shore (2021) and Bavarians Grassroots programs (2019) in similar roles.
After forging his senior year at MU, Bennett signed with Anorthosis Famagusta FC (Cyprus) in 2016. Bennett most recently played as a defender for Chicago House AC for two seasons, after having stints with Chicago Fire U-23, Sporting Kansas City II, MFK Vyškov (Czech Republic), OKC, Memphis 901, and Forward Madison.
“I’m excited to be back a part of the school and soccer program that shaped me as a player and person,” Bennett II said of being back at Marquette. “I look forward to continuing and contributing to the Marquette way and winning games as we do it.”
At Marquette, Bennett II was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection team honoree in 2014 (first team) and 2015 (second team). Bennett II helped lead the Golden Eagles’ to a BIG EAST Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance as a true freshman in 2013. Additionally, in 2013 he was named to the All-BIG EAST Freshmen Team, BIG EAST Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team, and BIG EAST Honorable Mention.
In his MU career, Bennett II appeared in 55 matches, starting in 53, scoring 9 nine goals, dishing out 14 assist, tallying 32 points, and playing 4735 minutes in three seasons with the Golden Eagles.
Bennett II, a native of Milwaukee, became the highest-rated recruit in program history when he enrolled at MU in January 2013. He was tabbed as the No. 1 player in the Midwest Region, ranked No. 33 nationally at his position and ranked No. 65 overall in the "IMG Academy Top 150" for the class of 2013, as compiled by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Louis currently resides in Milwaukee.
