Darius Barksdale completed his first season with the Marquette University women's basketball program in 2023-24 as Director of Video & Player Development after joining MU in September of 2023.
With Marquette, Barksdale will coordinate all aspects of the program’s video needs, including opponent scouting and player development content.
Marquette made history during the 2023-24 season with the best start in program history at 12-0. The Golden Eagles were one of 10 teams in the country to go undefeated in nonconference, including winning the Fort Meyers Tip-Off over Thanksgiving weekend. MU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament with 23 wins and finished tied for third at 11-7 in the BIG EAST with St. John's and Villanova.
Barksdale most recently spent two seasons (2021-23) with the men’s basketball program at Texas, assisting with on-campus recruiting, scouting, player development, recruiting and administrating the team’s summer camps. The Longhorns claimed the 2022-23 Big 12 tournament title and advanced to the Elite Eight.
A three-year men’s basketball letterwinner (2017-20) at Urbana University, Barksdale earned his bachelor’s in sports management from the school in 2020. The Lexington, Kentucky, native appeared in 58 career games for the Blue Knights. He also played one season (2016-17) at Oakland City University.
He completed his master’s in communication, with an emphasis in sports communication, in 2023 and graduated cum laude.
