Prior to Marquette: Shay was a four-year letterwinner at Notre Dame de Sion High School, where she helped the team to three straight regional and district championships. Her team has been to three consecutive state semi-finals and advanced to the state championship match in 2011, taking second place. Through her three years of proven success on the pitch, she has been named a co-captain for the school[apos]s 2012 campaign. Shay[apos]s forward play on the field has garnered all-state recognition each year (2009-11) at Notre Dame de Sion. Along with the first-team all-state mention in 2010, she earned her region[apos]s Offensive Player of the Year award and was named to KC Star Metro[apos]s Honorable Mention team. Shay earned rookie of the year honors in 2009 as a freshman on the varsity squad. In 2011, her Blue Valley Soccer Club finished second in the Kansas State Cup.
Personal: Daughter of Jim and Connie Shay. Is the second of three children. Intends to major in health sciences.
