Prior to Marquette: Was a four-year letterwinner for St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Helped lead Aquinas to the 2005 and 2006 Kansas State Team Championship. She earned All-Metro and All-State honors in 2005, and was also tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year in the Eastern Kansas League, as well as the Top Defensive Player in the Kansas state tournament. Ayer starred for the KCFC Alliance Pumas - which finished as national club runners-up - along with fellow newcomer Cat Harris.
Personal: Mackenzie Fagan Ayer was born on May 24, 1988. Daughter of Dennis and Virginia Ayer. Father was an All-American goalkeeper at Benedictine College. Has two siblings, Shannon and Riley. Is majoring in advertising.
