Marquette Volleyball Team Drops Season Opener

West Lafayette, Ind. - Marquette's volleyball team opened the 1999 campaign with a 15-6, 15-7, 15-8 loss to UW-Milwaukee at the Mortar Board Purdue Premier tournament Friday evening in West Lafayette, Ind.
UWM outhit Marquette .369 (54-13-111) to .172 (44-24-116) and had six total team blocks to Marquette's four.
Sophomore Kelly Kaylor had a team-high 15 kills and added seven digs for the Golden Eagles. Vesna Grbavac, also a sophomore, added 10 kills. Senior Jessica Martin hit .455 (6-1-11) and classmate Chris Curtin paced Marquette with eight digs. Junior Liz Egasti added 37 assists and six digs.
UWM's Laura Dallenbach led all players with 16 kills and 13 digs and hit .560 (16-2-25). Katie Schneider, Chrissy Schurla and Sue Raschka each had three block assists for the Panthers.
