Marquette Women's Tennis Travels to Bloomington

MILWAUKEE - Up Next- The Marquette University women's tennis team (4-2) will be back in action on Feb. 19, when they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to play Maryland and Indiana. The Golden Eagles' dual match against Northwestern on Wed., Feb.16 at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium has been postponed. The match has not been rescheduled at this time.
Last Week-On Thu., Feb.10, then-No.32 Marquette defeated then-No. 49 Wisconsin 7-2 at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles swept the Badgers in the doubles 3-0 and had impressive performances by senior Julia Sapozhnikova 's (Belarus, Minsk/College of Olympic Reserves) 6-1, 7-5 victory over Linde Mues and junior Laura Garcia's (Zargoza, Spain/I.E.S Goya Academy) 6-3, 6-0 victory Vanessa Rauh. On Sat., Feb.12, the Golden Eagles lost to then-No.33 Iowa 8-1 at Iowa City, Iowa. Marquette senior Elisa Penalvo 's (Godella, Valencia, Spain/Juan XX111) 6-2, 6-4 win over Shera Wiegler was the lone victory for the Golden Eagles. Marquette is currently 1-2 against ranked opponents this season.
