Golden Eagles Fall 4-3 to Milwaukee in Friday Thriller

MU recorded three singles wins
The Marquette University women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Milwaukee on Friday evening.
Doubles opened with a battle between the two squads. Luciana Mendoza and Aiyana Abbott took the first victory 6-2 on court three, but the Panthers responded taking court one 7-6. Despite the effort from Marquette, Milwaukee claimed the doubles point with a 7-5 victory over Elena Duva and Maria Poon.
On the singles side, it was Poon that opened the scoring column for the Golden Eagles as she defeated Emilia Durksa 6-2, 6-1. The Panthers regained momentum and pushed out to a 3-1 lead after picking up two straight-set victories on courts one and two. Abbott secured the second point for MU in extended sets. She dropped the first set 4-6 to Honoka Yamashita, but remained composed and took the second, 6-3, forcing a third set. Abbott cruised to a 6-2 win to cut into the Panther lead 3-2.
Duva leveled the match at 3-3 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Svava Schroeder. Despite her best effort, Mendoza could not hold on against Simonova falling 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.
