Marquette Volleyball Falls At Tulane

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team opened a weekend road trip on the wrong foot Friday evening, dropping a four-game decision to Tulane. The Green Wave boosted their record to 14-7 overall (6-3 C-USA) following a 27-30, 30-21, 30-23, 30-26 over the Golden Eagles who saw their record drop to 11-8 overall, 4-4 in the league.
Leading Marquette's effort was senior Mehgan Devine (Harris, Minn.), who tallied a match-high 20 kills along with a 30.2 attack percentage (20-7--43). Senior Vesna Grbavac (Palatine, Ill.) came up with 18 kills and 14 digs while freshmen Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) and Jennifer Amobi (Silver Springs, Mary.) finished with 13 and 11 attacks, respectively. Freshman Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) and sophomore Megan Markowski (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) chalked up 17 and 16 digs, respectively, in helping MU to an 83-79 edge in that department.
Tulane entered the match as C-USA's leader in opponent hitting percentage (.166) and held Marquette to a 17.0 attack percentage (67-34--194). The Green Wave also enjoyed a 10-4.5 advantage in total blocks.
Marquette closes out the weekend with a match at Southern Miss on Saturday
