Women start strong at ITA Regionals

At the ITA Regionals in Madison Wisconsin, two Marquette women's tennis players advanced to the second round of action.
Sophomore Anabelle Espinoza defeated Monica Ribero of Toledo (6-2, 6-2). Espinoza went on to beat Tanja Sukovic of Northern Illinois, 6-2, 6-3. Espinoza will continue play tomorrow.
Junior Anna Pavlovic defeated Lynsey Fick of Purdue, 6-2, 6-0. Pavlovic was beaten by Xavier's Lauren Clary 6-1, 6-3 in second round play.
Sophomore Sommer LaValley lost in first round action, 6-1, 6-1 to Purdue's Missy Wright. She did win her consolation game against Mandy Caldemeyer, 6-2, 6-2.
The regional continues tomorrow, with play starting at 9 a.m. in Madison.
