Sunday atthe ITA Regionals, the doubles final field was decided and the main draw singles field was set for quarterfinal and semifinal action to be played on Monday.
Marquette does not have any players left in the main draw, although one of their doubles teams advanced in the consolation round.
Sunday Sophomores Veronica Briseno (Coahuila, Mexico) and Anabelle Espinosa (Panama City, Panama) defeated Veraverbeke and Okino from Iowa in the first round of Consolation matches, 8-5. In round two, the duo defeated Rincon and Fisk of Ohio State, again by the score of 8-5.
Espinosa has had a full weekend of tennis, starting with the qualifying singles round on Thursday. She defeated Monica Ribero of Toledo 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 64. Also on Thursday, she beat Tanja Sukovic of Northern Illinois, 6-2, 6-3. Friday, she beat the No. 1 seed Joanne Musgrove from Michigan by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Saturday, she lost to Amy Walgenback of Purdue, 6-3, 6-1.
Sophomore Eva Herrera also lost in the Round of 64 on Saturday, being defeated by Larissa Chinwah of Western Michigan, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4.
Sophomore Genevieve Charron (Quebec, Canada) won in Saturday's round of 64, beating Conference USA rival Marina Parashkevova (DePaul), 6-3, 6-1. She later lost in the round of 32 to Northwestern's Andrea Yung, 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Sommer LaValley lost in the qualifying round on Thursday to Purdue's Missy Wright, 6-1, 6-1. However, she went on to the Consolation round, where she defeated Mandy Caldemeyer, 6-2, 6-2, before being beaten by Jennifer DuPrez, 6-1, 6-1.
Junior Anna Pavlovic (Chicago/Loyola Academy) beat Lynsey Flick of Purdue, 6-2, 6-0. She was defeated in the second round by Lauren Clary of Xavier, 6-1, 6-3. Pavlovic teamed up with Herrera to win the first round of doubles play, beating Lay and Vastag, 8-5. The Golden Eagles lost in the second round to No. 8 seed Vladea and Havelkova, 8-2.
