MU Women Falter at Wolverine Fall Invitational

The Marquette women's tennis team had a rough day Saturday at the Wolverine Fall Invitational at the University of Michigan
In the blue flight, sophomore Anabelle Espinosa lost to Michigan's Chrissie Nolan, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5. Nolan went on to appear in the final round on Sunday. Sophomore Genevieve Charron defeated Michigan State's Asa Linden 6-4, 6-3 but then lost to Caroline Lay, also from Michigan State, 6-3, 6-4.
In the maize flight, sophomore Sommer LaValley lost to Michigan State's Kate Thomas, 6-2, 6-2. Thomas then lost in the semi-final round.
In the Wolverine round, junior Alex Stankovic defeated Josie Schmidt of Michigan State, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles action, the team of sophomore Vero Briseno and Espinosa lost to Jen Duprez and Kim Plaushires of Michgan, 8-6. The tandem from Michigan went on to the final round. Gen Charron and junior Anna Pavlovic lost to Joanne Musgrove and Chrissie Nolan of Michigan, 8-4.
